Favorite Books

If you were to come over to the ranch for coffee, you would quickly see that we love books. To the extent that it was quite the problem when we were moving from the mountain house to the ranch a little over a year ago. Books in standard moving boxes get heavy quick! Our home library, as a homeschooling family, is quite eclectic. We range from board books to reference books on what mushrooms you can eat while backpacking in our area.

In addition to collecting books of all shapes, sizes, and topics, we love a good deal. My favorite secondhand store has the best kids' books for $0.25. My husband does not like these prices as much as I do, simply because it means more of those children's books make it into our home.

My favorite books are hard to pinpoint. There are different ones for each facet of our lives. There are the books that I reference daily in the kitchen, the books that each child pulls from the shelf to have read to them daily, the books that tell us how to care for one of our livestock animals, and the list goes on and on. There is no end to what you can learn from having the right book. Please keep me from starting on the differences between actual books and ebooks.

For the sake of this blog, I wanted to share our family's favorite books in Homestead Reference, cookbook, and maybe one or two children's books. Although I might have to do one whole post for cookbooks and share the random cookbooks I have found at secondhand stores and yardsales throughout the years.
